Please note, this guide will only pertain to you if IT has set up your account to send and receive faxes.
Overview
Zoom Online Fax allows you to send and receive faxes digitally using the Zoom Workplace app on your computer. This replaces the need to use shared copiers for faxing.
Faxes are delivered directly to your Zoom account and your email. This helps keep confidential documents private and reduces the risk of printed documents being seen by others.

Signing In to Zoom
Skip to the next section if you are already signed in.
- Open the 'Zoom Workplace' app on your computer.
- Sign in either with Google (use this option if you are unsure) or enter your Questar email into the space provided.
Opening the Fax Section
- Open the Zoom app.
- Click Phone.
- Click the Fax tab.
This is where you will:
View received faxes
- Send new faxes
If you do not have the Phone or Fax tab available, please try signing out and back in.
Your Fax Number
You have been assigned a personal Zoom phone number to use for faxes. This number can be found at the bottom of the dialer. You may have to switch off the fax tab or click the blue dialer button in Zoom to see this:
Give this number to anyone who needs to send you a fax.
Sending a Fax
- Open Zoom and go to the Fax tab.
- Click New Fax (or similar button).

In the To field, enter the recipient’s fax number.
External numbers must start with an 8. For example: dial 85184796835
- Attach the document you want to send.
- Click Send.
Fax cover is currently not a configured feature.
If the fax fails, review the contact number and try again.
Sent faxes can be found in your Outbox.
Receiving a Fax
Incoming faxes will appear in the Fax tab. You will also receive a notification with a copy by email.
To view a fax:
- Go to the Fax tab.
- Click on the fax in the list.
- Open or download the attached document.
You can either click into the fax to inspect just like you would an email, or hover over the fax to download the attachment.
Common Issues / Troubleshooting
Phone or Fax tab is missing
- Sign out of Zoom completely
- Sign back in
Fax will not send
- Check that the fax number is correct
- External fax numbers must start with an 8
- Make sure a document is attached
Fax not received
- Check the Fax tab in Zoom
- Check your email (including spam or junk folder)
