Preview Pane
Use the preview pane to get a quick look at the contents of a file without having to open it. This can save you time when you're looking for a document but can't remember its name.
Windows 10
- Click the View tab.
- Click Preview pane.
- Single-click a document to preview it.
Windows 11
- Click the View Menu, then hover over Show.
- Click Preview pane.
- Single click a document to preview it.
Restore Items from Recycle Bin
You can restore items in the recycle bin to their previous location. Note that items cannot be recovered after clicking the Empty Recycle Bin button.
Windows 10
- Open the Recycle Bin.
- Single click the item you need to restore.
- Click Restore the selected items.
Windows 11
- Open the Recycle Bin.
- Single click the item you need to restore.
- Click the three-dot menu, then click Restore the selected items.
Navigation Pane
The navigation pane provides quick access to recently used folders and libraries such as Documents, Pictures, and Downloads. This should be turned on by default, but if it is turned off, use these directions to turn it on.
Windows 10
- Click the View tab.
- Click Navigation pane, then select Navigation pane from the dropdown menu.
Windows 11
- Click the three-dot menu (also known as kebab menu), then hover over Show.
- Click Navigation pane.
