External eMail Banner:
A warning banner is inserted at the top of all emails received from external email senders:
This banner is intended to help you better identify senders as non-Questar staff and hopefully avoid phishing scams where malicious emails are crafted to impersonate you or your coworkers. If you do happen to receive an email from someone who appears to be a Questar staff member, but includes this banner, please use your Phish Alert button to report it to IT for closer inspection.
Email Attachment Scanning:
When you get an email with an attachment, you might first see a temporary file instead of the actual attachment like this:
In most cases, the scan takes 30–60 seconds. Once it's done and if no threats are found, the original attachment will be added back. If a threat is detected, the attachment will stay blocked, and IT will be notified.
Protected View:
For Windows users, we’ve enabled a Protected View feature that opens files in a read-only mode. This helps prevent harmful files from running on your computer. Be cautious and pay attention to any prompts when opening files, even from known sources. If you don’t need to edit a file, it’s best to keep it in Protected View. If you have questions about a file’s safety, please contact the Help Desk.
